Ella’s baby shower

This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to get invited to photograph a Baby Shower. Sounds pretty run of the mill thus far, right? Well, not exactly – the shower was for my wife, she is 7 months prego with our baby daughter, Ella.

The shower was held in Old Sacramento at the new Ten22 restaurant. Natalie and I had dinner at the restaurant a week or so after their grand opening, we had such a good experience we knew it would be a perfect location for the shower. Fortunately for us, this experience was just as good if not better then our initial visit. It’s virtually impossible to not like a place that has such great ambiance, extremely courteous staff, and truly amazing food – not too mention it’s in a fun location. Thanks again Terry for making the event such a success.

Shooting this event was rather unusual, I’ve never shot an event when I knew virtually every person in the room. Let’s just say it was a little uncomfortable, it’s easy to put a camera in someone’s face when they are a complete stranger, but not so much when it’s a close friend or your wife’s relative. That being said, I think I spent more time visiting & helping Natalie open gifts then actually shooting. It’s probably worth mentioning that I didn’t shoot flash or have the normal 2nd shooter because we didn’t want it to be paparazzi-ish.

All in all, the event was an overwhelming success and we were amazed with everyone generosity. We are so grateful to have such fantastic friends and family.
